Using Smartfox2X with Unity for a Windows Store app

I am trying to build a program with Unity that connects to a Smartfox server, but do so using the Windows Store build option. Ive gotten everything working except when I test in Visual Studio I get errors. Ive downloaded the new APIs at this URL: http://www.smartfoxserver.com/. (partway down the page) Ive also read at the following link that you cannot use Networking features when building a unity project to Windows Store: [https://docs.unity3d.com/Documentation/Manual/windowsstore-gettingstarted.html][1] I can't imagine Smartfox would release an API if it couldn't work, so I kept looking for solutions to my problem. I have both plugins (standard smartfox.dll in Assets/Plugins folder and Win8 one in Assets/Metro/Plugins folder). When trying to debug in visual studio 2013 I can debug the program and get one of two results: 1. The program runs, but never connects to the server. 2. I get Template.exe errors when I build and check the option to allow access to private networks in visual studio. Has anyone had any luck with a similar problem?
